5 yr old gives a life lesson to those willing to accept

Christmas day! It was 7 a.m. when our 5 year old daughter, Addyson, came running into our room saying, "mommy, daddy, let's go look and see if Santa Claus came to our house last night".

So we get up and ease into the living room. As my daughter's face lit up with smiles and bright eyes, she went running to the Christmas tree and turned to look at us and said, "mommy he did come! He brought me my Care Bear and the purple ball that I asked him for, and he brought Ayden a blue truck"!

As we unwrapped more presents and all sat in the floor playing and talking about the events of the day to come, Addyson looked at Susan, my whatsit, and said, "mommy, does this Care Bear talk or sing?"

Susan said, "I don't think so Addy, but you can try".

Addy then said, "mommy, let's squeeze it's tummy to see if it will talk or something".

After squeezing the Care Bear, and nothing coming out of the toy, Addy said something that I was very proud to hear her say, especially at only 5 years old.

Addy said, "well, that's ok, I didn't want a noisy Care Bear anyway".

The fact that her Care Bear didn't sing or talk, which I think she was really hoping for, didn't hold her back at all! At five years old, all the lessons I've been teaching her, that I am just now learning at 31 years of age myself, by way of reading success oriented books, is starting to shine through!

I know a lot of kids that would have done something like throw it down and say something bad about it or maybe even would have started whining and pouting.

But my little Addyson Skye held her head up, thought for a second, and said to the world - I will not let you steal my joy! I am grateful for the fact that I even got a Care Bear and purple ball! I am thankful! And thank you for all that I do have in my life!

Imagine how different our lives would look, if we would say, "that's ok, I didn't want a noisy Care Bear anyway" at our problems or circumstances in life.

I challenge you, the next time you find yourself getting dissappointed for the outcome of something in your life, to take that moment and make it positive! Then watch the wonderful results that follow!

Enjoy the day!
