Is it really possible?

So, is it really possible to change the direction of your life?

I was introduced to the movie "The Secret" a few years ago now. Since then, I have been reading about and studying the "Law of Attraction". I have found that this is not the only law of the universe, but for some reason it is the most popular.

As I've read and read and read, I found that there are apparently several hundred ways to "attract" things, experiences, etc. into our lives. With each book I've read, there was a different strategy presented in order to create our dream life.

There are some similarities amongst all the different methods . . . the main one being this:

You must have a clear understanding of what it is that you DO want to have, be, experience in your life.

You see, the reason that most of us don't have in life what we would like to have, be, experience is because we really don't know what we want in our lives. Everyone of us however, can tell in detail exactly what we DON'T want in our life!

When is the last time that you sat down in a calm, non-distracting setting and really thought about the kind of life that you would like to live?

Have a date with yourself! Take an afternoon with a pen and paper, find a place where you can relax and really think about the things you would like in your life. And write them down in as much detail as possible. Read over them from time to time and start opening up your imagination again. You deserve it!

This is the one most important aspect that I've found in studying the Law of Attraction. If you don't know exactly what you want to have, be, experience in life, how in the world do you expect to have it, be it, or experience it?

In all reality, most of us are taught things as we are growing up that do not produce fulfilling lives. If you don't believe me, just ask your co-workers how satisfied they are at this point in their life.

Were you taught to dedicate some time in your everyday life to think about the things you would like to have? Or the life you would like to live? Things you would like experience? I wasn't! The things I remember hearing the most are "don't do . . . . you can't do . . . . that isn't possible . . . "

Don't get me wrong. I truly believe that my parents did the best they knew how. I think that most parents do. I love my parents and I am very thankful for the things they did teach me and help me experience.

The fact is, most of us are told to "finish school and get a good job so that we will be taken care of" and "don't disobey the law and get into trouble". Most of us are taught to quit dreaming and to quit having visions for our future. In essence, we are taught how to become robots for the corporate giants instead of being taught how to become the person we were meant to become. We are taught that it is not ok to be ourselves. And this leads to an unfulfilling life.

So, the "Law of Attraction" at first, seemed to me that it would be relatively easy to implement into my life and create different results. When I stepped back and looked at the bigger picture, I realized that I am having to change thinking patterns that have taken me 30 years to develop!

All in all, I feel like I had unrealistic expectations up front, but I do believe with enough reading, studying and persistance, we can eventually change the way we think and in return that will change the outcome of our lives!

The only difference in us and the people we would like to have our lives resemble . . . is the way we think versus the way they think.
